AMALFI COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL - PIANO PROGRAM

We are happy to announce the 2012 Piano Program at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival & Institute to take place in Maiori, Italy from July 1 through July 13.
The Piano Program at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival is an intensive and concentrated musical and artistic experience. The festival offers the individual private lessons and daily masterclasses that provide for dynamic and interactive learning in a supportive environment.
Other activities include workshops, lectures, round table discussions, as well as numerous performance opportunities. Students will also have a chance to attend recitals by world-renown concert pianists.
The central location for the festival is Maiori, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, a breathtakingly beautiful stretch of the Mediterranean right on Italy's Gulf of Salerno.
All pianist participants will have an opportunity to perform in institute recitals. In addition, pianists may audition to perform in the Young Artist Concert Series.
Festival performances take place at various cultural institutions and historic landmarks in the area's most picturesque locations such as Villa Rufolo in Ravello, the Cathedral of Amalfi, the 18th century Palazzo Venvitelliano in Salerno, the Naples Conservatory, the Cloister of St. Francis in Sorrento, and more.

The primary location of the Amalfi Coast Festival is Maiori, a charming seaside town situated overlooking Italy's famed Gulf of Salerno.
Other possible area excursions include trips to:
Naples
Tour the Naples Music Conservatory and visit the vast collection of the Naples Archaeology Museum, which includes precious objects and frescoes from Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Pompeii
Explore the extensive excavations of one of the best-preserved cities of antiquity, buried under the lava of Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Capri

Travel by boat to visit the magical island of Capri. Revel in the rugged coastline, the bluffs and the sense of a world apart.
Caserta

Visit the medieval hill town of Caserta Vecchia and tour "La Reggia," the royal palace known as the Versailles of the Mediterranean.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
For the piano festival, you should plan to arrive on July 1 and depart July 13. The most convenient option is to fly into the city of Naples, which is approximately 90 minutes from our facilities in Maiori. The festival provides ground transportation from the Naples airport. All participants are free to make their travel plans at their own discretion. For your protection, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance in case of a health problem or family emergency that might require you to make a last-minute change in plans.
ACCOMMODATIONS
There are two options for accommodations:
Hostel-style Guest House
A small dormitory-style facility run by the historic San Francesco Monastery that offers triple rooms with private bath. This option is offered at a substantial savings for festival participants and students only. The facilities are newly renovated and beautifully maintained. Study and rehearsal space are within walking distance of the hotel.
Panorama Hotel
A gracious and impressive 4-star hotel overlooking the Mediterranean in Maiori, with access to a private beach. The hotel boasts dramatic views of the water from balconies and a roof-top terrace with a pool and snack bar. Study and rehearsal space are within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Full tuition: $2,075 (with accommodations in Hostel-Guest House)
Full tuition: $2,650 (with accommodations in 4-star Hotel - triple occupancy)
