Along with being an active concert pianist, Antonio Pompa-Baldi is a dedicated teacher who comes from a rich musical tradition. His talents were fortified by Annamaria Pennella, a legendary pedagogue from Naples and student of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. His other mentor was the great pianist Aldo Ciccolini. As Distinguished Professor of Piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music, he tirelessly passes on his knowledge and craftsmanship to the young pianists attending there. His students have been prizewinners in important competitions such as Marguerite Long, Hilton Head, Isang Yun, and Gina Bachauer.
Pianists may seek his expertise through summer festivals and workshops in the States and Europe. For those interested in the opportunity to join Professor Pompa-Baldi’s studio, applications to CIM are generally due on December 1st of each year. Auditions occur in the following February.
